Care Guide
Introduction
Demi-fine jewellery is designed to be worn regularly and to last — but like all quality pieces, it performs best with a little mindful care. Share this guide with your customers to help them get the most out of their Vyara pieces.
Understanding Your Jewellery
Our pieces are primarily crafted in 18K gold-plated stainless steel. The base metal is stainless steel — strong, anti-corrosive, and hypoallergenic — finished with a layer of 18K gold plating.
The gold layer, while durable, is thin by nature. The key to longevity is knowing what to avoid.
The Golden Rules (What to Avoid)
• Perfume, hairspray, and deodorant — apply these before putting on your jewellery, never after
• Lotions, sunscreen, and body oils — let them absorb into your skin fully before wearing pieces
• Chlorinated water — remove jewellery before swimming in pools
• Harsh chemicals — bleach, cleaning products, acetone-based nail polish removers
• Excessive sweat — remove pieces before intense workouts when possible
• Abrasive surfaces — avoid scrubbing or rubbing pieces against rough materials
Daily Wear Tips
• Put your jewellery on last — after getting dressed, applying makeup, and styling your hair
• Take it off first — before washing hands for extended periods, cooking, or cleaning
• A quick wipe after each wear goes a long way — use a soft, dry microfibre cloth
How to Clean Your Jewellery
For Routine Cleaning
Gently wipe each piece with a soft, dry microfibre cloth after wearing. This removes oils, sweat, and surface residue that can dull the gold over time.
For Deeper Cleaning
Mix a small amount of mild dish soap with lukewarm water. Dip a soft cloth or soft-bristled toothbrush in the solution and gently clean the piece. Rinse with clean, lukewarm water and pat dry immediately with a soft cloth. Do not soak pieces — especially those with stones or intricate settings.
What to Never Use
• Harsh jewellery cleaners or chemical dips
• Abrasive cloths, scouring pads, or paper towels
• Ultrasonic cleaners (these can loosen stones and damage plating)
• Toothpaste (too abrasive — it scratches the gold surface)
How to Store Your Jewellery
• Store each piece separately — pieces rubbing against each other causes scratching and premature wear on the plating
• Use individual soft pouches or a compartmented jewellery box
• Keep in a cool, dry place — away from direct sunlight and humidity
• Avoid bathrooms for long-term storage — moisture accelerates tarnishing
• For necklaces, fasten the clasp before storing to prevent tangling
